The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been undergoing significant turmoil and has begun to implement changes. Former Bangladesh skipper Aminul Islam Bulbul will be taking control of the organization as its latest president and has promised to hold a free and fair election, scheduled to take place in October.
Aminul had made it clear that he hopes to create the best cricket governing body in the country. However, the former cricketer has also revealed that he is not interested in running in the next election and has mentioned that this is the first time he has received an official offer from the government.
“My primary goal is to hold a transparent election and create the best cricket board. That’s it. I’m not interested in running in the next election. The government asked me, and I said yes. Now it’s just a matter of following the process,” Aminul was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
“I’ve always been involved in the development of cricket. As I’ve said before, I never had the opportunity to work in this capacity before. This is the first time I’ve received an official offer, and I didn’t say ‘no.’ Simple as that-that’s the first point,” the former batter added.
I don’t know what the future holds: Aminul
The 57-year-old administrator further explained his role and also talked about his future aspirations. Aminul has made it clear that he has no long-term aspirations within the Bangladeshi board. He has also opened up about not being familiar with the board’s constitution, and it will be up to the directors if they want to elect him as the president.
“Secondly, since the opportunity has come, I will work. For now, my focus is on fulfilling my role until the elections. Whether I’m assigned any tasks afterward, or I return to the ICC, I don’t know what the future holds. But as of now, I don’t plan to participate in the elections. I have no intention of staying in this role long term,” the former Bangladesh middle-order batter said.

“I don’t know anything officially yet about the exact role I’ll be offered. Since I’m not fully familiar with the board’s constitution, I think if I’m appointed as a counsellor by the National Sports Council (NSC) and they grant me directorship, then it will be up to the board directors to elect me as the BCB president,” Aminul concluded.
