Sourav Ganguly believes that the game between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, as per the original plans. The former BCCI President showed his immense trust in Kolkata Police’s statement and felt the match wouldn’t be shifted to Guwahati. Ganguly also reaffirmed his support for Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

Uncertainty over KKR vs LSG clash in IPL 2025

There has been uncertainty regarding the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Lucknow Super Giants match in IPL 2025. Due to the Ram Navami celebrations, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) was unsure about the security arrangements for the game. The board reportedly wrote a letter to the BCCI to address the issue. Notably, his statement referred to the tweet made by the Kolkata Police, assuring the safety measures in place for April 6.

“Just wait and watch what happens next. Have you seen the Kolkata Police’s post yesterday? I don’t think the match will be shifted. And in the IPL, I’m supporting Delhi Capitals,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by News18.

Ram Navami celebrations and potential match rescheduling

The former Indian batter refuted the rumours of relocating the match to Guwahati. While no official statement has been made by the BCCI yet, one of their officials mentioned that discussions had taken place with the Kolkata Police to ensure adequate security for fans and players at Eden Gardens.

CAB President Snehasish Ganguly had written to the BCCI, highlighting security concerns for the KKR vs LSG match, which coincides with Ram Navami celebrations. Speaking to the media, he suggested that Guwahati could serve as an alternative venue, citing that managing a crowd of over 65,000 people without proper police protection would be challenging.

However, the Kolkata Police dismissed all “misleading posts,” assuring their readiness to provide security for the match on April 6. Ganguly trusted the statement from the Kolkata Police and believed they were capable of ensuring safety for the fans. An official confirmation regarding the venue is expected soon.
