Rest of India (ROI) defeated Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) to clinch the Irani Cup 2026 title on October 4 at the Sher-I-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar.

Batting first, ROI were bowled out for 237, with Smaran Ravichandran top-scoring with 68 and Shikhar Mohan contributing 60. Sunil Kumar and Lone Nasir Muzaffar picked up three wickets each for J&K.

J&K responded with 278 in their first innings, led by Paras Dogra’s 75, Abdul Samad’s 57 and Muzaffar’s 64. Mukesh Choudhary was the pick of the ROI bowlers with 5/78, while Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar claimed three and two wickets, respectively.

ROI then posted 319 in their second innings, with Ravichandran producing a brilliant 135 and Sanat Sangwan scoring 55. J&K’s Mir, Sunil Kumar and Sahil Lotra took three wickets each.

Chasing a challenging target, J&K were bowled out for just 111, with Shubham Khajuria scoring 36. Mukesh Kumar starred with 6/33, while Akash Deep claimed 3/25 to seal a memorable victory for Rest of India.


Top Batting Performance of the match: Smaran Ravichandran

Smaran Ravichandran was the standout batting performer of the match for Rest of India. He scored 68 off 83 balls, including eight fours and a six, in the first innings. He followed it up with a brilliant 135 off 153 balls in the second innings, smashing 16 fours and five sixes. Ravichandran also played a crucial role in building partnerships, adding 52 runs with Manav Suthar and 113 runs with Mukesh Choudhary.


Top Bowling Performance of the match: Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowling performer of the match for Rest of India. He picked up 2/84 in the first innings, dismissing Abdul Samad and Abid Mushtaq. He then produced a sensational spell in the second innings, finishing with figures of 6/33. Mukesh dismissed Shubham Pundir, Paras Dogra, Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Mushtaq, Sunil Kumar and Umar Nazir Mir to help Rest of India bowl out Jammu and Kashmir for 111 and seal the Irani Cup 2026 title.


Who won the Player of the Match?

Smaran Ravichandran was named Player of the Match for his outstanding batting performance in the Irani Cup 2026. He scored a half-century in the first innings before following it up with a fighting century in the second innings, finishing with more than 200 runs across both innings to play a key role in Rest of India’s title-winning campaign.
