Despite only getting established ahead of the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the Gujarat Titans (GT) have already accomplished a vast array of things in their relatively short history.
In their first four seasons, the Ahmedabad-based outfit has reached the playoffs three times, including two finals, whilst lifting one trophy. Their success is largely down to their first captain, Hardik Pandya to guided them to their title win in 2022.
Now entering their fifth season, GT will want to build on their existing success and create a legacy of their own in the IPL.
Here’s a look at three GT records that are arguably impossible to break:
3. Consecutive finale appearances in first two seasons – 2022, 2023

GT have a record that is not getting broken anytime soon unless there is a brand new franchise on the horizon. They are the only side in IPL history to reach the final in their first two seasons of the tournament.
GT went on to win the IPL trophy in their debut year of 2022, beating Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the final at their home ground. Therefore, they joined RR in winning the title in their first season, which the Jaipur-based side achieved in 2008.
The then Hardik-led side would reach their second IPL final in as many years, where they faced Chennai Super Kings. They were whiskers away from winning their second title, but Ravindra Jadeja scored 10 runs off the final two balls to deny them the glory.
2. Only team to chase 200+ target without losing a wicket

GT became the first team in IPL history to chase down a total above 200 without losing a single wicket. They accomplished this feat against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Chasing exactly 200 thanks to a KL Rahul century, openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan made sure that no other batters were required. Gill scored 93 while Sudharsan hit an unbeaten 108 to take their side home with one over to spare.
The previous record of the highest successful run chase without losing a wicket was held by the Kolkata Knight Riders when they chased down 184 against the Gujarat Lions in 2017.
1. Highest winning percentage in IPL history – 61.66 per cent

GT have played a total of 60 matches in the IPL and boast a record of 37 wins and 23 defeats. This gives them a winning percentage of 61.66, the highest amongst all other franchises to have competed in the tournament’s 19-year history.
In comparison, the Lucknow Super Giants, who were established alongside GT ahead of the 2022 season, have a winning percentage of 52.63 per cent. It is, therefore, safe to assume that the arrival of GT has been a great addition to the IPL and has increased its competitiveness.
