Rajasthan Royals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by seven wickets in the Indian Premier League 2026 on May 19 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Batting first, LSG posted a strong total of 220/5 in 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh led the charge with a blistering 96 off 57 balls, hitting 11 fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 168.42. He was well supported by Josh Inglis, who smashed 60 off just 29 deliveries, including seven fours and three sixes at an impressive strike rate of 206.90. From the Rajasthan Royals bowling unit, Yash Raj Punja picked up 2/35 in his four overs.

In response, Rajasthan Royals chased down the target in 19.1 overs, finishing at 225/3. Young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi starred with a stunning 93 off 38 balls, striking seven fours and ten sixes at a strike rate of 244.74. He was well supported by Dhruv Jurel, who played a composed unbeaten knock of 53 off 38 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 139.47.

With this victory, Rajasthan Royals climbed to fourth place in the standings, securing their seventh win from 13 matches. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants slipped further down the table after suffering their ninth defeat in 13 games.

  • Both Mitchell Marsh (96) and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (93) were dismissed in the 90s, only the second such instance in IPL history after the CSK vs KKR clash in 2013 (Mike Hussey 95 & Manvinder Bisla 92).
  • Sooryavanshi recorded the highest strike rate in an IPL season (minimum 500 runs), finishing at 236.3 in IPL 2026.
  • He also hit the most sixes in the season with 53, placing him second overall in IPL history for most sixes in single edition.
  • He became only the second player ever to hit 10+ sixes in multiple innings in a single IPL season, after Finn Allen.
  • He registered three innings with 10+ sixes, making it one of the highest counts ever recorded in a single IPL campaign.
  • Mayank Yadav conceded 29 runs in an over, the second-most expensive spell conceded by a Lucknow Super Giants bowler after a previous record earlier in the season.
  • Sooryavanshi recorded his fourth fifty-plus score of the season, although his 23-ball half-century was his slowest of IPL 2026.
  • He also hit the most powerplay runs in the season (426), the second-highest ever in IPL history.
  • Rajasthan Royals hit a record 60 sixes in the first six overs of IPL 2026, the most by any team in a single season.
  • Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to reach 500 runs in an IPL season.
  • Mitchell Marsh hit 36 sixes in the season for Lucknow Super Giants, the third-most for the franchise in an IPL edition.
  • Rajasthan Royals conceded 200+ totals eight times in the season, the second-most by any team in a single IPL campaign.
