IPL 2025: Sanjay Manjrekar cheekily poses with Ravindra Jadeja’s India jersey

IPL 2025: Sanjay Manjrekar cheekily poses with Ravindra Jadeja's India jersey

Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar has captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts with his recent social media post. He is currently commentating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Manjrekar recently took to his official Instagram account and posted a picture of him cheekily posing with Ravindra Jadeja’s jersey. The jersey in the photo is an Indian team jersey with Jadeja’s name and number on it. Manjrekar can be seen smiling and pointing towards the jersey in the picture.

“Sporting No. 8 with a smile 😊,” the cricketer-turned-expert wrote in the caption of his Instagram post, which has been garnering a lot of attention from fans.

Manjrekar’s relationship with Jadeja took a hit when he called the Chennai Super Kings all-rounder a “bits-and-pieces” cricketer in 2019. The former said that Jadeja wasn’t a complete all-rounder in the ODI format and that he was a pure bowler in red-ball cricket. Manjrekar received considerable backlash and criticism on social media after his blunt comments.

“I am not a big fan of bits-and-pieces players, which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner,” he had said on air.

Jadeja responded on social media after this, saying, “Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I’m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea @sanjaymanjrekar”.

However, in recent years, the two have seemingly buried the hatchet. After Jadeja’s impressive outing in the 2022 Asia Cup, Manjrekar asked Jadeja if he was okay talking to him during an interview. The spin-bowling all-rounder replied with a laugh and “Yes, absolutely”.

Since then, Manjrekar has praised Jadeja’s all-round abilities. When the latter took his 14th Test five-for, Manjrekar called him his “favourite cricketer”. Jadeja had also shared a post about the veteran commentator, mentioning him as a “good friend”.
