Table toppers Gujarat Titans will take on a virtually eliminated Rajasthan Royals side in Match No. 47 of IPL 2025. A win will only further bolster GT’s position while a loss for RR will see even the mathematical chances of staying alive in the competition evaporate.

GT have been hitting the competition like a monster truck this year and as much was evident in their last game as they beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan got fifties and were supported by Jos Buttler to get their team to a strong total. Ajinkya Rahane got a fifty during the chase but none of the other KKR batters got going. Angkrish Raghuvanshi also hung around for a while but could only lessen the margin of loss.

As for RR, their last game was a thriller against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Bengaluru. After a slow start, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal picked up the pace in the middle overs with brilliant fifties. RCB’s finish was not flourishing, but enough to get the job done. Yashasvi Jaiswal started aggressively to put RR ahead of the game halfway into the chase. However, Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma took over the proceedings with crucial wickets, restricting the run flow.

RCB had found a way back, but Dhruv Jurel and Shubham Dubey kept the match alive. With 40 runs needed off 18 balls, the pair struck 22 off Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Howeverm Josh Hazlewood delivered a death bowling masterclass, taking two wickets and conceding just one run in the 19th over to send RR spiralling to their fifth consecutive loss.

RR’s current run of five consecutive losses began in the reverse fixture, so a victory in this game will be that much more meaningful to them. In that match, Sai Sudharsan’ 82 and strong finishes from the middle order had put GT in a comfortable position before Prasidh Krishna led the bowling charge to dent RR’S chances. Sanju Samson made 41 while Shimron Hetmyer made a fifty, but all that could do was play catch-up.
