IPL 2025, Match 56: Mumbai Indians beat Gujarat Titans via DLS method after rain interruption – Full Match Highlights

Gujarat Titans emerged victorious against Mumbai Indians by the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method at the Wankhede Stadium in Match 56 of the IPL 2025 on Tuesday, May 06. With this win, GT registered their eighth victory of the season, with MI’s six-game winning streak coming to an end, also moving to the top of the table.

Mohammed Siraj provided an early breakthrough for the Titans by dismissing Ryan Rickelton (2 off 2) in the first over. This was followed by Rohit Sharma’s dismissal (7 off 8). MI got to 56/2 at the end of the powerplay and 89/2 at the halfway mark. They managed only 23 runs from overs 15 to 19 They ended up at 155/8. Will Jacks (53 off 35) top-scored with his first half-century of the season. Rashid Khan (1/21 in four overs) and Gerald Coetzee (1/10 in two overs) were the standout performers.

GT lost Sai Sudharsan (5 off 5) early to a peach from Trent Boult. Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler steadied the innings on a challenging surface for batting. The duo took GT to 68/1 in 10 overs before Buttler fell for 30 off 27. Impact Player Sherfane Rutherford’s quick-fire knock tilted the momentum GT’s way. Rain disrupted proceedings twice. Post the first resumption, Bumrah (4-0-19-2) and Boult (4-0-22-2) struck in quick succession. However, GT held their nerve to clinch 15 off the final over to claim a famous win.

1. Kishore sends Suryakumar, Hardik packing in successive overs

Suryakumar and Hardik were dismissed in Kishore’s third and fourth overs, respectively. Both the batters were caught; Suryakumar in the deep at long-off and Hardik at slip off a top-edge. Their wickets were crucial in stalling the momentum of the innings.


2. Boult bolts one past Sudharsan in rare failure for latter

The second delivery of the second over of the run-chase was an absolute peach of a delivery by Boult to get rid of Sudharsan. He had not gotten out for a sub-30 score since the past six innings before tonight’s game.


3. GT chase down 15 in final-over frenzy

With 15 required off six balls, Deepak Chahar failed to defend 15 in the final over. A four from Rahul Tewatia on the first ball and a maximum by Coetzee on the third to get GT within touching distance of the target. With one required off the final delivery, Arshad Khan successfully completed the single in what was a pulse-pounding clash.
