Glenn Phillips seemed to have done himself some damage during the first innings of the ongoing game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans in the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League on Sunday, April 6.

The New Zealander seemed to have pulled his groin while throwing the ball towards the striker’s end. The ace all-rounder was spotted hobbling off the field while being helped by members from the GT camp. He looked quite in a bit of discomfort while going off the field of play.

Earlier in the evening, GT won the toss and opted to field first. SRH’s power play was a mixed bag. The very first over of the game was quite an eventful one. A couple of boundaries by Travis Head off

However, the final delivery of the same oversaw Head head back to the pavilion. A fullish delivery on the pads was chipped to midwicket, where Sai Sudharsan made no mistake in pouching the opportunity. Siraj’s new-ball partner, Ishant Sharma, conceded 24 runs off his first couple of overs.

Siraj’s third over on the trot effected the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma. It was yet another soft dismissal. Abhishek’s wicket also meant Siraj claimed his 100th wicket in the IPL. Abhishek was back in the shed for a 16-ball 18-run knock. SRH ended up registering 45/2 after the first six overs.

It remains to be seen when Phillips recuperates and whether he will be available to bat in the second innings of the game. Notably, Phillips came in as a substitute, but he ended up getting injured. This was Phillips’ first game of the IPL.
