Opting to bat first, Punjab Kings were off to a flyer of a start in the first three overs in Match 31 of their ongoing game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, April 15. They had scored 33 for the loss of no wickets after the three-over mark.
Harshit Rana’s first over brought about the dismissals of Priyansh Arya (22 off 12) and skipper, Shreyas Iyer (0 off 2). Josh Inglis’ debut was short-lived, with Varun Chakravarthy striking in his first over too. Prabhsimran Singh struck a couple of maximums off the third and fourth balls of the final over of the powerplay. However, Harshit had the last laugh.
Anrich Nortje dismissing Nehal Wadhera (10 off 9) meant PBKS were five down after nine overs. Glenn Maxwell encountered yet another underwhelming outing, as he was sent back for 7(10). Another double-wicket over, this time via Sunil Narine, reduced PBKS to a state of absolute misery. Shashank Singh (18 off 17) and Xavier Bartlett (11 off 15) were the final couple of wickets to fall. PBKS ended up getting all-out for 111.
