IPL 2025: Funniest Memes from CSK vs KKR Mid-Innings of Match 25

The 25th match of IPL 2025 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has so far been a one-sided affair, with the hosts collapsing to a MERE 103/9 after 20 overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. While CSK was happy with MS Dhoni’s return as the captain after nearly two years, things couldn’t have gone worse for the five-time champions, who registered their second-lowest total in IPL history.

The Ajinkya Rahane-led side won the toss and chose to field first on a pitch helpful for spinners, and their bowlers executed the plan to perfection. Sunil Narine was the pick of the bowlers, picking 3 wickets for just 13 runs, including the dismissals of Rahul Tripathi, Ravindra Jadeja, and  Dhoni, who managed only 1 run.

Narine was supported by Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana, who chipped in with two wickets apiece. Moeen Ali, who was brought in for this match, made an impact early with the ball by removing Devon Conway. Notably, KKR spinners who bowled 12 out of the 20 overs conceded just 55 runs while taking six wickets, the most CSK have ever lost to spin in a single IPL innings. 

CSK’s innings never really got going. They scored just 31/2 in the powerplay, their second-lowest of the season, and managed just three boundaries after the eighth over. Vijay Shankar (29) and Shivam Dube (31* off 29) were the only batters to show some ope, putting together a 43-run stand. However, the rest of the lineup collapsed around them. Seven CSK batters failed to reach double digits.

This total of 103 is CSK’s lowest at Chepauk and the second-lowest by any team at the venue, only better than RCB’s 70 all out in 2019. They also used their Impact Player, Deepak Hooda, early in an attempt to get some runs in the innings, but he fell for a duck. KKR now need just 104 runs to win, and unless CSK pull off a miracle, the visitors are on their way to register a big win.
