IPL 2025: Delhi Metro to extend timings, run extra trains to facilitate commute for fans at Arun Jaitley Stadium

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has given a breather to public by extending the timings of its metro services beyond the ordinary scheduling to facilitate the travellers during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 fixtures. The capital city’s Arun Jaitley Stadium is hosting matches for Delhi Capitals, and on the match days, DMRC will be running 76 extra trains on all the operational lines, it confirmed via a press release.

The matches at the historic venue will be played on April 13, 16, 27 and 29 in April, while the last game is scheduled to be played on May 11. All these dates will be applicable for extended metro services, which will also help in avoiding traffic congestion on the roads and promote the usage of public transportation.

“In anticipation of the sudden rush expected at these nearby Metro stations after the match is over, the Delhi Metro will be performing76 extra train trips on match day by extending its last train timings by about 01–02 Hours on all Lines. This will enable spectators to reach their destinations smoothly by using the Metro,” DMRC said in a release dated April 11.

Speaking of Delhi Capitals, the side has been enjoying an exceptional run so far in the tournament, being the only side to remain unbeaten in all the four games they have played. The Axar Patel-led side won its first couple of home games in Visakhapatnam and then travelled to Chennai and Bengaluru to beat the CSK and RCB, respectively, in their away fixtures as well, which has helped them remain at top of the IPL 2025 Points Table.

They will next play the Mumbai Indians on April 13 at their home venue, and will be hopeful of maintaining their unbeaten run. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, will be hoping for a turnaround as their campaign hasn’t looked in balance so far.
