There is high praise for young and upcoming cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi after he played one of the best knocks in IPL 2025, scoring a century off just 35 deliveries at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Jaipur, on Tuesday, April 28.

The whole cricketing world is still celebrating this knock, which has already entered the record books. The innings of 101 off just 38 deliveries turned out to be so special that it caught the attention of the Bihar government as well. Bihar CM (Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has openly announced, via his social media handle, that the 14-year-old left-handed sensation will be awarded prize money of ₹10 lakh from the state.

The 74-year-old minister mentioned that he had met Suryavanshi and his father last year and had given him his blessings. Nitish also revealed that he congratulated the young RR cricketer on the phone after his innings.

“Congratulations and best wishes to Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Bihar, who became the youngest player (14 years) to score a century in the history of IPL. He has become a new hope for Indian cricket as a result of his hard work and talent. Everyone is proud of him. I met Mr Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his father in 2024, and at that time, I wished him a bright future. After his brilliant performance in IPL, I also congratulated him over the phone,” Nitish Kumar wrote on his ‘X’ handle.

“Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a young cricketer from Bihar, will also be given a prize money of Rs 10 lakh by the state government. I wish that Vaibhav creates new records for the Indian team in the future and brings glory to the country,” the Bihar CM concluded.

Meanwhile, CM Nitish Kumar was not the only known figure in the Bihar government who congratulated the young cricketer. The former Deputy Chief Minister and ex-Delhi cricketer, Tejashwi Yadav, also praised the young superstar on social media for his record-breaking innings.

“Proud of our own Bihari Boy Vaibhav Suryavanshi..14 years old became the second fastest Centurion in IPL history ..Keep it up,” the son of former CM Lalu Prasad Yadav wrote on his ‘X’ handle.
