An acrobatic effort on the field by Kwena Maphaka brought about the end of Urvil Patel on the final ball of the second over during Match 62 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Urvil was the second CSK wicket to fall after CSK were invited to bat first.

Yudhvir Singh bowled it on a hard length. Urvil tried slogging the ball down the ground. However, the miscue could travel only as far as Maphaka at mid-on. The 19-year-old made the tough opportunity look easy by pedalling backwards to complete a fine take. Urvil was Yudhvir’s second wicket of the evening. He had dismissed Devon Conway a couple of deliveries earlier.

Yudhvir, who had played three games for RR this season, had come in for an off-colour Fazalhaq Farooqi. Sanju Samson mentioned the same at the toss. On the other hand, CSK went in with an unchanged XI from their recent two-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Both CSK and RR were the first two sides to bow out of the race for the playoffs. They have endured quite dismal campaigns in IPL 2025 so far. Both sides would be keen on ending their campaign on a sweet note. This is RR’s final league phase game.
