As we head into the final few games of the Indian Premier League 2024, two teams are already out of contention. Mumbai Indians became the first team to be knocked out after Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Lucknow Super Giants.

Kolkata Knight Riders are sitting pretty at the top of the table and need just one win to make it to the playoffs. Shreyas Iyer and the team are high on confidence after their last few games where they have been unstoppable with the bat and ball. 

The two-time IPL winners also hold the edge over Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. Their 24-run win in Wankhede Stadium was on the back of a fifty by Venkatesh Iyer and 4 wickets from Mitchell Starc.

Mitchell Starc on the other hand has been able to regain his touch with the ball in the last few matches. The costliest player in the history of IPL took 4 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium to show why he was invested heavily. The player battle between Rohit Sharma and Mitchell Starc will be one to watch out for when the two sides meet on Saturday.

Jasprit Bumrah has been the best bowler for the Mumbai Indians and was the key reason why KKR could only score 169 in their last encounter. Sunil Narine’s batting has given KKR enough ammunition to put up massive scores on the board. The West Indian has been on the list for the top scorers this season and will want to continue his amazing form.

Suryakumar Yadav is peaking at the right time with the bat as his century helped Mumbai win their previous game. The 33-year-old who is set to be a key player for India will want to keep himself in good form and help MI finish in a much better place in the table.

Varun Chakravarthy struggled with his form in the early part of the season. Shreyas Iyer though persisted with the mystery bowler and the results are there to be seen. The battle between the spin of Chakravarthy and the flamboyance of Suryakumar Yadav will be a great battle for the crowds in Kolkata.
