The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) and the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will square off in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) Qualifier 2, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad, on Friday, May 26. The winner will play the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the summit clash on May 28, in Ahmedabad.

GT, who have had an unforgettable season this year, finishing at the helm of the IPL 2023 points table, were defeated by CSK in Qualifier 1 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai, on May 23. Hardik Pandya and Co. suffered a 15-run loss against CSK, which marked their first defeat against the MS Dhoni-led side.

MI, on the other hand, finished in fourth place on the points tally after a rough start to the competition. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. are coming off a win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator of the IPL 2023, in Chennai, on May 24.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface of the Narendra Modi Stadium has been batting-friendly, although it has also favoured new ball bowlers. Teams batting second have had the most success, as they have won the majority of matches this season. Therefore, the captain winning the toss will prefer to bowl first at this venue.

Probable Playing XI for GT vs MI

Gujarat Titans

The defending champion will be keen to bounce back from the defeat to CSK in Qualifier 1, as they are expected to field a lineup with few changes.

Probable Playing XI: Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Hardik Pandya (c), Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Joshua Little, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad, Mohammed Shami
