The final of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will feature a clash between the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings and the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 28.

Chennai Super Kings was the first side to make its way into the IPL 2023 final after they defeated Gujarat in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday, May 23. Reaching their 10th IPL final, the MS Dhoni-led side would be keen on becoming five-time champions.

On the other hand, Gujarat took on Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of the tournament after losing the game against Chennai previously. However, this time, the Hardik Panyda-led side came in with all guns blazing, and by virtue of a remarkable ton by Shubman Gill, Gujarat won the game by 62 runs and made their way into the summit clash.

Leading the head-to-head record, Gujarat have emerged victorious on multiple occasions against Chennai. However, they lost their previous game against the four-time champions and Chennai would look to build upon the same.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has been batter-friendly, however, it has been known for providing assistance to the new ball bowlers. Chasing a target in a high-pressure game might get tricky and hence the side winning the toss will be tempted to bat first if there’s no rain around.

Probable Playing XI for CSK vs GT

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings would be expected to go with an unchanged line-up in the summit clash of the IPL 2023. The same line-up got them the win against Gujarat in Qualifier 1, and there seems to be no reason why MS Dhoni would look to make changes.

Probable Playing XI:  Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (wk/c), Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana

Gujarat Titans

On the other hand, Gujarat would go into the game with an unchanged line-up as well. With the likes of Mohammed Shami maintaining a stronghold on the IPL purple cap, the squad that registered a brilliant win against Mumbai could be the way to go for the defending champions.

Probable Playing XI: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad, Mohammed Shami
