IND vs SA 2025: Kagiso Rabada ruled out of Guwahati Test

IND vs SA 2025 Kagiso Rabada ruled out of Guwahati Test

Kagiso Rabada will not take part in the second Test of the ongoing two-match series between India and South Africa (IND vs SA 2025). Rabada did not feature in the series-opening clash in Kolkata after not being able to recover sufficiently from a stress injury in his ribs.

An official statement by Cricket South Africa (CSA) mentioned that Rabada will not take part in the remainder of the tour. The Proteas quick will return to South Africa after the second Test concludes in Guwahati for further assessment.

“The injury has been closely monitored by the Proteas medical team, and due to ongoing discomfort in the affected area, Rabada has been withdrawn from the remainder of the tour. He will continue the initial phase of his four-week rehabilitation program with the Proteas medical team before returning to South Africa at the conclusion of the second Test,” stated the same release.

Rabada not being a part of the three-match ODI series and five T20Is spanning November and December is a big blow for South Africa. According to ESPNcricinfo, the pacer has not bowled a single ball even in practice since sustaining the injury while training on November 11. He did not train in Guwahati either. Meanwhile, Lungi Ngidi was recently added to the squad for the second Test.

Simon Harmer (4/30 and 4/21) was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his match haul of eight wickets as India failed to chase 124, with the tourists winning by 30 runs. The second Test is scheduled to commence on November 22.

The red-ball series will be followed by three ODIs and five 20-over matches across different venues between November 27 to December 19.
