‘I’m not disappointed at all’ – Taskin Ahmed remains optimistic after going unpicked in PSL 2025 draft

'I'm not disappointed at all' - Taskin Ahmed remains optimistic after going unpicked in PSL 2025 draft

Taskin Ahmed has built a solid reputation for himself when it comes to international cricket. Ever since making his debut in 2014, he has been an integral component of the national setup and has often been the leader of the bowling unit. However, the same standing has not carried over when it comes to franchise 20-over cricket. After being heavily linked to joining the Lucknow Super Giants a few seasons back as a replacement, he did not ultimately feature for LSG due to not obtaining a No Objection Certificate from the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

In a recent discussion, Taskin shared how he felt after being snubbed at the latest draft of the impending Pakistan Super League.

“What’s there to be upset about? The main thing is that if I can serve my country well, and do well wherever I play, there will be opportunities,” stated Taskin, as quoted by The Daily Star.

If that had been upsetting to me, I would’ve hung myself by now: Taskin

Taskin went on to explain that he did not take his latest cold shoulder to heart and was optimistic of a lot more opportunities coming his way.

“I could not go to the IPL despite having the opportunity to do so three times previously. If that had been upsetting to me, I would’ve hung myself by now. I’m not disappointed at all [about not getting picked in the PSL]. It’s what my fortunes are, there will be a lot more chances in the future inshallah. Since I didn’t get a team in the draft, if there is a need for a replacement, they may take me. It’s the same for the PSL,” concluded Taskin.

Taskin last featured for Bangladesh on their tour of the West Indies last month. He is currently representing Durbar Rajshahi in the ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. He would be expected to lead the lines for the nation in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.
