Jake Fraser-McGurk has made himself unavailable for Delhi Capitals’ (DC) remaining matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The opening batter from Australia was among the players who were evacuated from Dharamsala after the Delhi Capitals versus Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) clash was abandoned mid-way into the first innings on Thursday, May 8. The match was halted after air raid warnings issued in nearby areas led to a power outage in the hill town, as Pakistan launched several drones at multiple Indian cities bordering the north and northwestern region.

Shanon Young, coach of Fraser-McGurk, said that the right-handed batter, who was among the younger players on either side, is still shaken after the unprecedented turn of events that transpired last week. The 23-year-old returned to Australia along with many of his compatriots after the IPL was suspended for a week. Now, he has informed the Capitals’ management that he won’t be able to return to play the remainder of the IPL.

“I’m honestly not sure. He is still tossing up a decision. I spoke to him this morning, and he is still unsure. He was shaken more than most. Not surprising given he is the youngest of the tourists, and he was quite uneasy the day before the game and then obviously after we were evacuated and then the subsequent trip back to Delhi,” Young told The Times of India.

“He wasn’t in a good way, and I am very thankful I was there to help guide him through that. It was hard enough for a 50-year-old well-travelled man, let alone a kid,” he added.

On Wednesday, May 14, Capitals roped in experienced Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman as Fraser-McGurk’s replacement for the rest of the season. DC’s clash against PBKS has been rescheduled to May 24 and will now be held at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. DC are positioned at No. 5 on the points table, with 13 points from 11 games. Meanwhile, PBKS have 15 points from 11 matches and are third on the table.
