Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf is all set to play for Yorkshire, having officially signed a deal with the county club. He will be available to play the seventh and eighth rounds of the ongoing County Championship 2026 while also being there for the entire T20 Blast season. The club confirmed the overseas signing via an official media release.
This is not the first county stint for the cricketer, though, as the Kasur-born player has already been associated with Northamptonshire and Sussex in the past. Notably, Ashraf has joined the Yorkshire side as a replacement player for Australian cricketer Will Sutherland, who has had to withdraw from his contract due to an injury.
The cricketer expressed his excitement to be joining the historic club amid the ongoing season. The young cricketer has said that he is eager as ever to be linking up with the Yorkshire dressing room in Headingley.
“I’m delighted to be joining Yorkshire. Many of my fellow Pakistan players have represented the Club and have spoken highly of both the environment and the quality of players within the squad. I’m really looking forward to arriving at Headingley,” Ashraf said in an official franchise statement on Thursday, May 14.
The feeling is mutual for the club, and general manager of Yorkshire, Gavin Hamilton, has said on the club’s behalf that Ashraf comes to the squad as an extremely valuable addition. Hamilton further highlighted how the cricketer’s role in the middle order and making handy contributions with the ball will be vital in the club’s success this season.
“Faheem is an experienced multi-format player who will be a really valuable addition to the squad. He brings a great ability to score quick, lower order runs as well as the skill to make a real impact with the ball,” Hamilton said.
