Dwayne Bravo slams Cricket West Indies for sacking Rovman Powell from T20I captaincy

Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo took to Instagram to react to the shocking move of sacking Rovman Powell as the T20I captain of the West Indies. The legendary player expressed his frustration over the move and blamed Cricket West Indies for meting out injustice to the players and the fans of the Caribbean region yet again.

Bravo claimed it to be one of the worst decisions ever.

“Once again, you guys prove to the people of the Caribbean and the cricket world that the injustices towards players continue! As a former player and a fan of WI cricket, this is easily one of the worst decisions ever,” Bravo wrote on Instagram.

Bravo noted Powell’s achievements as a skipper and felt it was unfair to repay him like that. Bravo questioned when the board will stop treating its players badly. He felt sacking Rovman made no sense on any level and expressed his disappointment.

“Rovman took over captaincy when our T20 team was in 9th spot and was able to move up to 3rd spot in the rankings, and this is how you guys repay him. When will the bad treatment of players stop? This is so sad on all levels..make it make sense! SMH #JusticeForRP,” Bravo added.

Rovman played a key role in helping with the revival of the West Indies. After failing to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2022’s main round, the Men in Maroon fell to the ninth position in the ICC T20I rankings. Powell was named the skipper of the team and he took them to the top five in the rankings.

Powell had a good record as skipper of the two-time T20 World Champions. The star batter led the West Indies in 37 matches and helped his team to win 19 matches with a Win/Loss record of 1.11. Under him, the West Indies won series against major teams like India, South Africa, and England.
