Fortune Barishal clinched their second consecutive title in the 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League by triumphing over Chittagong Kings by three wickets. The BPL 2024-25 Final thriller of a contest was played in a packed Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Being put into bat first, Chittagong Kings set off to 57 without the loss of any wickets within the first six overs. At the midway mark, they had already reached 93, with both the opening batters, Khawaja Nafay and Parvez Hossain Emon, seeming primed for way more. Nafay was dismissed in the 13th over of the game.

Graham Clark played a blinder of a knock (44 off 23), only to end up getting run out in the final over. Emon played out the entirety of the 20 overs to end up on 78 off 49. Mohammad Ali was the only bowler from the Kings who ended up with an economy rate south of 8.50.

Coming to the run-chase, Barishal themselves got off to a great start scoring the same number of runs in the powerplay. A double-wicket over by Shoriful Islam changed the complexion of the game, with skipper, Tamim Iqbal, departing for 54 pff 29 balls.

However, Kyle Mayers’ blistering innings got his side within touching distance of victory. The game took another drastic turn when Shoriful bowled another over comprising two scalps, his final one of the game. However, Rishad Hossain, who was allotted only a couple of overs earlier in the piece, came through for his side with a couple of maximums at the business end of the innings to clinch it for Barishal.
