Bangladesh have named a 16-member squad for their historic first bilateral ODI series against Australia, with pace-bowling allrounder Disha Biswas and Habiba Islam Pinky earning maiden ODI call-ups. The squad was announced on October 1, 2026, ahead of the team’s departure for Australia on October 3.

Nigar Sultana Joty will captain the side, with Nahida Akter named as vice-captain. The three-match series is scheduled for October 9, 11, and 14, 2026, with all matches to be played at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

The squad also includes the return of Murshida Khatun, who last represented Bangladesh during the West Indies tour in January 2025, and Dilara Akter, whose most recent ODI appearance came at the Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan in April 2025.

Who are the two players earning their maiden ODI call-ups?

Disha Biswas comes into the squad as a pace-bowling allrounder. She previously captained the Bangladesh Under-19 side but is yet to make her senior international debut, making this ODI call-up her first opportunity at the highest level of the 50-over format.

Habiba Islam Pinky has one prior international appearance to her name, a T20I against India in May 2024. This squad selection marks her first call-up to the Bangladesh ODI setup, giving her a chance to add to her international experience in a different format.

What is the significance of this series for Bangladesh women’s cricket?

This tour marks the first time Bangladesh women have featured in a bilateral ODI series on Australian soil, making it a notable milestone for the programme. The three matches at Allan Border Field in Brisbane will give Bangladesh exposure to Australian conditions ahead of future global events.

The inclusion of players such as Biswas and Habiba Islam Pinky alongside experienced campaigners reflects the selectors’ intent to assess their options across the squad. Murshida and Dilara’s returns after extended absences add further depth to the 16-member group.
