‘Absolutely no intent behind it’ – Virat Kohli issues statement over mistaken Instagram activity (Photo source: X and Instagram)
Star Indian batter Virat Kohli was recently involved in an unexpected social media controversy after a fan page of actress Avneet Kaur displayed a like from his Instagram account. The digital interaction quickly grabbed eyeballs, sparked heavy speculation, and even dragged in Kohli’s wife, actress Anushka Sharma. However, on Friday, Kohli issued a clarification in an attempt to put an end to the rumours.
The post in question was uploaded by a fan page of Avneet on 30 April, featuring the actress. Fans soon noticed that the Indian batting stalwart’s official Instagram handle had liked the post. To address the growing theories, Kohli took to his Instagram Stories and posted a statement.
“I’d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding,” he wrote.
While the 36-year-old did not directly mention Avneet’s name or the details of the post, he made it clear he was responding to the incident. Interestingly, the like has since been removed from the post. The event came a day after he shared a birthday post for his wife, Anushka.
