India are set to take on England in a five-match Test series beginning on June 20. This upcoming tour marks a significant transition in Indian cricket, as the team travelling to English soil will be one of the youngest and most inexperienced sides in recent years.

Shubman Gill will lead the team in the red-ball format, with Rishabh Pant named as the vice-captain. Before this new chapter begins, India have had several iconic and memorable Test victories over the past five years at home and overseas. 1. Australia vs India, Brisbane 2021

India scripted history by defeating Australia at the Gabba in 2021 while retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and ending Australia’s 32-year unbeaten streak at the venue. Australia scored 369 in the first innings, with Marnus Labuschagne making 108. India’s inexperienced attack, T Natarajan, Shardul Thakur, and Washington Sundar, picked up three wickets each.

India replied with 336, with the help of Thakur (67) and Sundar (62), and Josh Hazlewood took five wickets. In the second innings, Siraj’s five-for restricted Australia to 294. India had to chase 328, where Shubman Gill scored 91 and Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on 89 while leading India to a thrilling three-wicket win and one of their greatest Test triumphs.

2. England vs India, Lord’s 2021

India secured a memorable 151-run victory over England at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in 2021. Rohit Sharma (83) and KL Rahul (129) set the tone in the first innings by helping India post 364, while James Anderson claimed a five-wicket haul. England responded with 391, which was led by Joe Root’s unbeaten 180 and Bairstow’s 57.

In the second innings, Ajinkya Rahane (61) and Mohammed Shami’s unbeaten 56 guided India to 298. England were chasing 272 and collapsed for just 120, with the help of stellar bowling from Jasprit Bumrah (3/33), Mohammed Siraj (4/32), and Ishant Sharma (2/13), which handed India a famous win.

3. South Africa vs India, Centurion 2021

India ended the year on a high by breaching South Africa’s fortress at Centurion by securing a historic 113-run victory. In the first innings, KL Rahul led with a superb 123 and helped India post 327, while Lungi Ngidi took six wickets. South Africa replied with 197, with Temba Bavuma scoring 52, as Mohammed Shami claimed a five-wicket haul.  

India managed 174 in their second innings and set a target of 305. Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen picked up four wickets each. Despite Dean Elgar’s fighting 77, South Africa was bowled out for 191, as India’s collective bowling sealed a dominant win.  

4. England vs India, The Oval 2021

India claimed a memorable 157-run win over England in the fourth Test at The Oval while taking a 2-1 lead in the series. India scored 191 in the first innings, with Virat Kohli (50) and Shardul Thakur (57) contributing to the runs. Chris Woakes (4/55) and Ollie Robinson (3/38) destroyed the Indian batters. England replied with 290, which was led by Ollie Pope (81) and Woakes (50), as Umesh Yadav picked up 3/76.  

In the second innings, Rohit Sharma’s brilliant 127, along with Cheteshwar Pujara (61), Rishabh Pant (50), and Thakur (60), took India to 466. England were chasing 368 and were bowled out for 210 despite Rory Burns (50) and Haseeb Hameed (63) giving a decent start.  

5. India vs Australia, Delhi 2023

India’s dominant win against Australia ensured their place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final for the 2021-23 cycle, and they took a 2-0 lead in the series. In the first innings, Australia posted 263, which was led by Usman Khawaja (81) and Peter Handscomb (72*), while Mohammed Shami took 4/60 and both Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja claimed three wickets each.

India responded with 262, with Axar Patel scoring 74, and Nathan Lyon took a five-wicket haul. In the second innings, Australia collapsed for just 113 from a sensational bowling of 7/42 from Jadeja. India chased down 115 and won by six wickets.
