Mumbai Indians pacer Trent Boult claimed that a team total of over 300 runs was very much possible in the IPL 2025. Despite knowing the fact that the bowlers were having a disadvantage in the last few seasons, the left-arm pacer hoped to get some early swing in some parts of India in the 18th edition of the league.

Early in the IPL 2025, SRH scored 286 against RR, which was the second-highest total in the league’s history. Since then, such a big score hasn’t been witnessed in the ongoing season.

“No doubt, a 300+ score will be reached this tournament. The ball seems to be travelling further, though I’d like to believe it’s still swinging in some parts of the country,” Boult claimed.

The left-arm pacer spoke from the bowlers’ perspective and felt a positive for them was that the batters were coming hard at them, which created some opportunities. The Kiwi pacer felt the key for the bowlers was to stay focused, be accurate, and aggressive. He felt the fans would love to see a fiery version of the bowlers.

“From a bowling perspective, the only positive is that batsmen are coming hard, which creates opportunities. If we focus on being accurate, stay aggressive, and give it a real crack, bowlers will have their day at some point. That’s what fans want to see, and I’m sure there’ll be plenty watching,” the MI pacer added in his statement.

I’m constantly pushing myself to come up with new options and plans: Boult

When asked about the change in dynamics in death bowling, the star pacer claimed it to be a huge challenge to bowl at the death. He said it was something he always worked on, and added that he planned to get better and never get complacent. The 2020 IPL winner said he wanted to try new options by pushing himself to be the best version of himself.

“It’s a challenge and an area I’ve always worked on. My mantra has been to keep getting better and never plateau with my skills or performance. I’m constantly pushing myself to come up with new options and plans,” Boult added.

The MI bowler addressed the evolution of game and its effect on death bowling. He felt that not playing against familiar names could be challenging, which could ask the bowlers to be at their best. Boult felt that clarity and execution to deliver under pressure made the difference. Ahead of MI’s match against LSG, the star pacer concluded by saying that the bowlers had to be prepared to seal big moments

“These days, there are so many batters—some we’ve never even heard of or played against—so you’ve got to be on your game. Clarity is key, and executing under pressure makes the difference. It’s all about training well and being ready for those moments,” Boult concluded.

MI and LSG face each other at Wankhede Stadium on April 27 in their respective upcoming match.
