India women’s team has seen several batters emerge as match-winners over the years. It was former India skipper Mithali Raj who became synonymous with the team. She still holds multuple major records to her name and has reigned supreme for over two decades in the Indian cricket lore. Since her departure, India women have flourished in batting thanks to the likes of Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh, amongst others.
The times have changed and so has the mindset of the batters. With Indian team undergoing a momentum shift, there are several batters who have broken the norm. Centuries are milestones every cricketer cherishes and when they come with added vigour, it becomes even more special.

3. 90 balls – Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues

Harmanpreet kaur is one of the hardest hitters of the ball. She has hit the most sixes for India in ODIs with 52 maximums. She also holds the record for scoring the third-fastest hundred, which came in 2017 in the World Cup semifinal against Australia. She reached the three figure mark in just 90 balls and went onto remain unbeaten on 171 off just 115 balls laced with 20 boundaries and seven maximums.

Jemimah Rodrigues shares the third spot with Harmanpreet as she scored her fastest century against Ireland in the second ODI in 2024 at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Coming into bat at number four, she reached hundred in just 90 balls and ended at 102 off 31 with 12 fours.
2. 87 balls – Harmanpreet Kaur

Harmanpreet Kaur was again in the zone during the second ODI against South Africa in 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. She came into bat at number four and displayed some brilliant intensity to reach the three-digit mark in just 87 balls. She remained unbeaten on 103 runs off 88 balls in an innings laced with nine boundaries and three maximums.
It is worth noting that Harmanpreet reached her fifty in 58 balls but accelerated from there to score her next fifty runs in merely 29 balls, displaying her prowess with the bat. She was also a part of a 171-run stand for the third wicket with Smiti Mandhana, who also notched up a century as India won the game by a narrow margin of four runs.
1. 70 balls – Smriti Mandhana

Smrit Mandhana scored a century in December 2024. Ever since then, she came close to century but kept getting dismissed in 70s and 80s. As India took on Ireland in the third ODI at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on January 15, Mandhana was on song. She opened the batting with Pratika Rawal and was part of a massive 233-run stand for the first wicket. Mandhana made use the batting conditions really well and accelerated after starting slow as she reached her century in 70 balls, making her the fastest to score a ton among other India women batters.

She took nine deliveries to accrue the next 35 runs and was dismissed for 135 in just 80 balls. Mandhana smashed 12 boundaries and seven maximums, scoring at an impressive strike rate of 168.75. She also equaled Harmanpreet’s record for most sixes in ODIs (35). While skipper Harmanpreet achieve the feat in 141 games, Mandhana reached there in just 97 ODIs.
