The Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc has opted out of the remainder of the IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) to focus on the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) Final against South Africa, which is scheduled to begin on 11 June at Lord’s.

The Sydney-born bowler has been a key performer for the Delhi Capitals (DC) this season, claiming 14 wickets in 11 innings at an average of 26.14. One of his standout performances came against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), where he successfully defended nine runs in the final over to push for a Super Over, which eventually guided DC to victory with his exceptional bowling in the decider.

Starc‘s decision to step away from the IPL is a significant blow to DC, who will now have to explore other options to fill the gap left by the pacer. Let’s take a look at three bowlers who could replace Mitchell Starc in the Delhi Capitals squad.

The right-arm pacer Riley Meredith could be a valuable addition to the DC squad. He has prior IPL experience spanning three seasons, representing the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI). His recent performance in the Big Bash League (BBL) for the Hobart Hurricanes was impressive, where he picked up 16 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 20.25.
