The one-off Test between Afghanistan and Bangladesh in UAE is set to be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi starting on Friday, October 9. This is the third time these two teams will be meeting in a Test match.

Afghanistan come into this clash as the representative home side, the first time they are taking on that designation against Bangladesh. The Afghans’ last Test assignment came against India in New Chandigarh, where they suffered an innings defeat. They will be looking to put up a better showing in this match.

Bangladesh made history by picking up their first Test victory against Australia in Darwin, but have seen a slump with a loss against the Aussies and Zimbabwe. They will be looking to improve on that form and pick up a much-needed result ahead of a high-profile tour of South Africa.

No significant absences

The pitch is expected to play a balanced role, being good for batting in the first two days, before dryness induces turn for spinners in the final two days.
