WPL 2026: Predicting the top 3 player battles for match 9

Gujarat Giants Women and Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women will clash in match 9 of the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026) tournament on January 16, 2026, at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women have participated in two games in the current Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026) competition, and have four points after winning both games.

Gujarat Giants Women, on the other hand, have participated in three games and have four points after winning two games and losing one.

Here are the predicted top 3 player battles for match 9 of WPL 2026:

1. Sophie Devine vs Lauren Bell

Sophie Devine has hammered 141 runs at a strike rate of 213.63 in three games, with the best score of 95. Devine, the veteran New Zealand cricketer, has smashed some big runs at a sensational strike rate. RCB Women will need to get her out quickly to minimise the damage.

Lauren Bell has picked two wickets in two games in WPL 2026. Bell from England is a young pacer, and she has the ability to swing the ball at good speed.

2. Smriti Mandhana vs Renuka Singh

Smriti Mandhana vs Renuka Singh

Smriti Mandhana has scored 65 runs at a strike rate of 144.44 in two games. Mandhana is a threat in any game she plays, either for India or for RCB Women. She is leading the defending champions, and though she has not made a big score in the two games, GG women will be wary of her ability to make big runs.

Renuka Singh Thakur has taken three wickets in three games. Renuka is Smriti’s India teammate and ex-RCB Women teammate as well. She has bowled a lot to Mandhana in nets and knows her inside and out. This could help Renuka in getting the better of her battle with Mandhana.

3. Ashleigh Gardner vs Shreyanka Patil

Ashleigh Gardner has scored 134 runs at a strike rate of 171.79 in three games, with the best score of 65. Gardner will be a huge threat for RCB Women, and they would want her to be dismissed as soon as possible.

Shreyanka Patil has taken three wickets at an economy of 10.25 in two games. She has made her cricketing return after 14 months out due to injury but has done decently with the ball. She will be tasked with bowling at Gardner and getting her out for cheap.
