If there is one thing CPL fans love more than a last-over thriller, it’s seeing a batsman destroy a bowling attack. And if there is one way to showcase absolute dominance over a bowling attack, it is for someone to score a century in front of a jam-packed home crowd (or scorching turf!).
However impressive, not every ground sees hundreds very often, and when they do, some players treat them like their very own personal playgrounds. Today, we look at the three kings of CPL hundreds at their favourite stalking grounds. Spoiler alert: these players don’t show with their A-game, trust me, they will show with fireworks!!
Dwayne Smith – Kensington Oval’s Powerhouse

The name Kensington Oval alone recalls heritage, grandeur, and the unforgettable sight of Dwayne Smith sending balls sky-high. Dwayne played at this ground three times between 2014 and 2017, and each time expressed himself perfectly in three hundreds – yes, you read that right, Dwayne scoring a hundred each time he walked into this venue.
His highest was of the three was 110 off 201 balls faced, and posted a strike rate of more than 157.
In terms of consolation, he was out in none of the innings. For them, it was more than cricket; it was a carnival. Smith shone brightly, taking home a title he had unquestionably earned! If there was ever a batsman suited for a venue better than another batsman, it would be our dear Dr. Smith and Kensington Oval.
Brandon King – Guyana’s Century Machine

Providence Stadium has been a site of wonder, though it has been a site of wonder for few like it has been for Brandon King. Across only two games at this ground for Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs, King produced a pair of dazzling centuries, making a big impact in a limited time. His highest, a ludicrous 132 at a ludicrous 171 strike rate.
This performance was a savage display of hitting – all clean, no dirty shots, which included EIGHTEEN boundaries and EIGHTEEN maximums that left the bowlers wheezing for oxygen. And, to put a cherry on top, his average at Providence is a ridiculous 236.00.
Attitude-wise, every time King takes the field, opposition bowlers must be thinking that they should try underarm, just not to undergo the same humiliation of being slogged everywhere.
Evin Lewis – The St Kitts Six-Hitter Supreme

Warner Park in Basseterre is an electric place, and when Evin Lewis is on autopilot, it becomes an explosive fireworks factory. Between 2021 and 2024, Lewis played two matches here—and, you guessed it, in both of them Lewis scored centuries.
With a strike rate of 190.56, that means everything you need to know: he was not accumulating runs into an innings stage, eventually finding his way to fifty and carving his way through.
With 20 sixes, while in just 106 balls faced, Lewis recreated what “going big at home” means. If Smith’s batting is an extremely orchestrated parade and King’s is a planned art show, Lewis’s innings are a destruction derby.
So then, for the CPL fans, with another CPL season looming, the pertinent question is, will another challenger going to rise to take their crowns, or will these hometown heroes retain their credentials in the coming years?
