WCL 2025: Top 3 run-getters from the tournament

South Africa Champions defeated Pakistan Champions in the final of the World Championship of Legends 2025 on Saturday, August 2, at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Pakistan elected to bat after winning the toss and scored 195 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Sharjeel Khan was the highest scorer and made 76 runs off 44 deliveries. Hardus Viljoen and Wayne Parnell picked up two wickets each.

South Africa chased down the target of 196 runs in 16.5 overs with nine wickets in hand. de Villiers scored a century, while JP Duminy made a half-century.

AB de Villiers was leagues ahead of other batters in the tournament. He was one of the three batters who scored a century this season. de Villiers finished as the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 429 runs in six games at a strike rate of 220. He won the Player of the Match award in the final and won the Player of the Tournament award as well.

2. JJ Smuts (South Africa Champions)

Smuts finished in second place on the list of leading run-scorers this season. He scored 186 runs in five outings at an average of 37.20 and a strike rate of 151.21. Smuts made two half-centuries in the tournament. He scored 129 runs in the group stage and was involved in a 187-run opening partnership in the match against Australia. He scored 76 runs off 35 deliveries In the semi-final game against Australia.

3. Ravi Bopara (England Champions)

Ravi Bopara made 177 runs in four matches in the tournament and was the highest run-scorer for the England Champions. He made runs at an average of 88.50 and a strike rate of 153.91. Bopara made 110 runs off 55 deliveries and won the Player of the Match award in a crucial game against India Champions.
