Coming off a few dismal performances in the white-ball series against India, Boult was at his lethal best in the second T20I in Rajkot. New Zealand, electing to bat first, put up a sizeable 196 for 2 in their 20 overs, courtesy of a brilliant unbeaten 58-ball 109 from Colin Munro. Boult got the Kiwis off to a flyer, dismissing both openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, in his first over. He had Dhawan bowled before having Rohit knick off to keeper Glenn Phillips. He came back to dismiss the well-set MS Dhoni for 49 and then removed Axar Patel to finish with figures of 4 for 34 to hand the Kiwis a 40-run win.

The 2020 iteration of the Mumbai Indians is often considered one of, if not the best team to grace the Indian Premier League, due to their sheer domination throughout that season on their way to their record fifth title. In Sharjah, amidst the COVID pandemic, Boult tore through the Chennai Super Kings in blistering fashion. He picked up three wickets in the powerplay, bowling in tandem with Jasprit Bumrah, to leave the team in yellow reeling at 24 for 5 in the powerplay. He returned with the ball to end Sam Curran’s half-century vigil, finishing with figures of 4 for 13 as the Super Kings were restricted to 114 for 9. Openers Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock wrapped up the chase in 12.2 overs to hand MI a dominant victory.
1) 4/13 vs Sri Lanka, Sydney, 2022
Boult’s best T20I performance came against Sri Lanka in the 2022 World Cup. Batting first at the Sydney Cricket Ground, New Zealand were taken to a score of 167 for 7 by Glenn Phillips, who scored a stunning century. Boult got to work immediately, removing Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva in his first over, and then dismissing Charith Asalanka in his next over to leave Sri Lanka tottering at 8 for 4 in just the fourth over. He returned later to remove Dasun Shanaka late on as Sri Lanka were bundled out for 102.
