Not only is MS Dhoni an icon of Indian cricket, he has also been the face of the Indian Premier League over the years. Dhoni falls in the elite list of cricketers who have played every edition of the IPL so far.
He has represented Chennai Super Kings for 16 seasons and Rising Pune Supergiants for a couple of editions in 2016 and 2017. Ahead of IPL 2026, Dhoni stands sixth on the list of all-time run-scorers with 5439 runs in 242 innings at a strike rate of 137.45.
He has scored a total of 24 fifties in his IPL career so far, which is quite impressive for someone batting at the position he does. Dhoni has also scored 375 fours and 264 sixes in his time at the IPL so far.
1) 84* off 48 vs RCB (2019)

CSK were in all sorts of trouble while chasing 162 at the Chinnaswamy. Dhoni came in to bat with his side four down right at the end of the powerplay, with the score at 28. At one point, he had scored only 32 off 29 deliveries.
Dhoni got to his fifty with his third six of the innings. However, a lot still had to be done for his side to get over the line. The equation came down to 26 off the final over. Umesh Yadav was provided the responsibility to bowl it.
The first ball of the final over was pulled for a four while the next two deliveries went for maximums. A double brought down the target to eight off two. A maximum off the penultimate delivery almost ensured the win, but he could not connect the final ball which resulted in RCB winning by one run.
2) 64* off 32 vs KXIP (2016)

RPS had their work cut out when Dhoni came out to bat at No. 5. Eight of Dhoni’s first 12 legal deliveries were bowled by Axar Patel. The left-arm spinner was successful in not conceding a single boundary.
Dhoni never really got going during his innings. By the time the final ball of the 19th over had been bowled, RPS were 150/6 and Dhoni had reached 42 off 26 balls, with 23 runs required in the final over.
Axar, who had been majorly successful against Dhoni, was bowling to him. What followed was pure carnage as Axar was pummelled for three sixes and one four on the final four balls of the over, which handed RPS a famous win.
3) 70* off 34 vs RCB (2018)

RCB had set CSK a 200-plus target and Dhoni came out to bat in the 10th over with his side well behind the asking rate. The first four of his boundaries were all sixes, three of them coming off Pawan Negi’s bowling.
By the time Dhoni had hit his fifth six of the innings, he had already gone past his fifty. Interestingly, the seasoned pro had only scored one four by that point. Dhoni had forged a stunning partnership with Ambati Rayudu to bring his side back into the game.
Sixteen runs were required off the final over. Dwayne Bravo struck the first two balls for a four and a six, respectively, before rotating the strike over. A cracking maximum, Dhoni’s seventh of the innings, brought victory to CSK.
