Over the years, the IPL has been known for exceptional batting performances. Often, there are instances where the bowlers gave their everything but did not get enough recognition. It could be from the fans or the critics, the bowlers often go under the radar, as T20 cricket is increasingly becoming favourable for batting. In the IPL 2025, the case has been different.
Unlike the 17th edition of the league in 2024, the 18th edition of the league has witnessed several great performances from the bowlers. While some of those spells have produced a lot of wickets, others have been highly economical. As the pitches have been balanced, the return of the usage of saliva, and a lack of dew, bowlers are back in the game, with some miserly spells to remember for.
Noor Ahmad’s 0/13, LSG vs CSK, Lucknow, 14 April

It was the 30th match of the IPL 2025 between CSK and LSG at the Ekana stadium in Lucknow. CSK won the toss and elected to bowl first on a slow surface in Lucknow. The LSG batters found it difficult to deal with the CSK bowlers. While almost all bowlers claimed wickets from their end, Noor Ahmad was the one who made a difference from his end.
The chinaman spinner did not claim any wicket, but did a major damage to the eventual total with his economical spell. The Afghanistani spinner bowled 4 overs and conceded just 13 runs at an economy rate of 3.25. His spell was crucial in CSK restricting LSG to a total of 166/7, which was around par. CSK won the match, and Ahmad played a key role in their win.
Sunil Narine’s 3/13, CSK vs KKR, Chennai, 11 April

It was the 25th match of the season at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. KKR won the toss and elected to bowl first on a typical slow Chepauk surface. CSK’s innings never got going, thanks to a collectively good bowling performance. The spin duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine was exceptional.
While Varun claimed 2/22 in his spell of 4 overs, it was Narine who seemed unplayable. The mystery spinner bowled 4 overs, conceded just 13 runs, and claimed 3 wickets, with an economy rate of just 3.25. Narine dismissed the likes of Rahul Tripathi, Ravindra Jadeja, and MS Dhoni to register his best bowling figures in the IPL 2025.
Deepak Chahar’s 2/12, SRH vs MI, Hyderabad, 23 April
It was the 41st match of the IPL 2025 between SRH and MI in the 18th edition of the league. The match took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. MI won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visiting side was all over the home side right from the word go, thanks to their bowlers, who gave no respite for the batters.
The pace duo of Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar did huge damage to SRH’s innings. While Boult claimed 4/26 in his spell of 4 overs, it was Chahar who bowled the most economical spell of the season. The right-arm pacer bowled 4 overs, conceded just 12 runs, claimed a couple of wickets, and had an economy rate of just 3.00. His early wickets of Ishan Kishan and Nitish Reddy played a key role in MI’s dominant win.
