Top 3 bowling performances of Alan Davidson in Tests

Australia’s star cricketer, Alan Davidson, has been known as one of the best pacers in the history of cricket. The legendary cricketer has guided his side to some epic wins and single-handedly thrashed the opponents.

The star all-rounder made his Test debut on June 11, 1953, against arch-rivals England, and following the same, he played 44 games while picking up 186 wickets to his name. In the same vein, here are his top three test spells.

1. 22-4-53-6 (1st Innings) vs West Indies, 1960, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne [(37.4-6-104-8) in that match]

The star cricketer’s top Test spell came in the first match against the West Indies, where he picked up six wickets in the first innings of the game. He single-handedly destroyed the Windies and guided his side to a tremendous win.

Speaking about the game here, the West Indies managed to get 423 and 284 runs in the first and second innings, respectively. However, during the chase, Australia made 505 runs and 232 in the innings to draw the game against strong visiting sides.

2. 25.5-7-64-6 (1st Innings) vs England, 1958, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne [(40.5-7-105-9) in that match]

Alan’s top second spell came during the second Test against England, which was played from December 31 to January 5 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Stadium. The right-arm pacer had taken six and three wickets in the first and second innings to help his side win the game.

Speaking about the game here, the visiting side posted 259 and 87 runs in the first and second innings, respectively. However, during the chase, the Aussie chased down the total and went on to win the clash by 8 wickets.

3. 11-2-25-5 (2nd Innings) vs England, 1963, Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney [(35.5-9-79-9) in that match]

The great seamer’s top third Test knock came during the third match against England, which was played from January 11 to July 15 at Sydney Cricket Stadium. The star bowler picked up four and five wickets to help his home side win the epic clash.

Speaking about the game here, the English side made 279 and 101 runs in the first and second innings, respectively. However, during the chase, the hosts chased it down and won the game by eight wickets, ensuring a great win.
