Buttler and Alex Hales turned the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final match against India into a one-sided affair. Batting first, India somehow managed to post a target of 169 runs. In reply, both the English openers batted mercilessly to steer their side to a 10-wicket win. Buttler scored 80* off 49 balls, while Hales racked up 86 off 47 balls. 

1. 101*(67) vs Sri Lanka, Sharjah, 2021, T20 World Cup

Buttler’s highest T20I score and only century in the format came in the 2021 T20 World Cup match against Sri Lanka.
