The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 offered yet another rollercoaster ride of cricketing excitement; yet again, it was about the bowlers sharing the spotlight with the batsmen. As always, raw wicket numbers were not the only measure of impact: the shared combination of strike rates, averages, economy, and contributions under pressure, along with all-round contributions, brought us real impact. In this post, we review the performances of the top-performing bowlers, who really put in the effort, with a view to affecting their team’s performance. From raw pace to the minutiae of variations, we present the three bowling stars from PSL 2025.
1. Shaheen Shah Afridi (LQ)

Yet again, Shaheen Shah Afridi of Lahore Qalandars demonstrated why he is a modern great in bowling. Shaheen played a total of 13 matches in which he bowled 241 balls, took home 19 wickets at an astonishing average of 16.42, and an economy rate of 7.76 runs per over. And it is just under a wicket every two overs, his bowl per wicket strike rate for the season was 12.68 – so deadly!
Shaheen’s best bowling performance of 3/3, and it just goes to reinforce how problematic he really was, choking the runs from teams and taking key wickets at key moments.Under pressure, he really is able to regularly tear through recent batting orders, often getting Lahore back into games. I was amazed at how much aggression and control came through – only the one maiden over, but such precise execution in key overs!
2. Abrar Ahmed (QG)

Abrar Ahmed of the Quetta Gladiators has quietly spun his way into fans’ hearts and batsmen’s nightmares alike. After 12 games, Abrar had bowled 267 balls and taken 17 wickets at an average of 19.23 and an economy of 7.34, which was impressive for a spinner in a high-scoring league. His strike rate was 15.70, meaning he was taking plenty of wickets while not leaking too many runs.
With his best innings of 4/42 demonstrating that under the right circumstance Abrar could turn a game with a burst of wickets at pace, he only took one four-wicket haul; but the most impressive attribute of his bowling was how he was able to bowl overly tight overs, create pressure and take wickets at key moments.
3. Hasan Ali (KK)
Hasan Ali’s performance for Karachi Kings showcased a combination of toughness and skill. He bowled 231 balls over 10 matches and took 17 wickets, having an average of 20.47 and an economy rate of 9.03 runs per over. His strike rate of 13.58 shows that he can dismiss batters and get consistent breakthroughs.
The two most significant spells of the tournament were part of Hasan’s best bowling figures of 4/28, where he dispatched the batting line-up of the opposition in a very clinical and systematic manner. His economy rate was a bit high, but he took enough wickets to have the damage control with the runs conceded.
These three bowlers certainly had numerous milestones along the journey that was PSL 2025. Collectively, they gave the bowlers from PSL 2025 a tangible reading of the highs and lows of the tournament. It provides the basis for their respective engagement for future tournaments and the hopes that all interested fans will have in relation to their engagement.
