Roger Binny's top 3 performances in ODI Cricket

At a time when the Indian team were making their way upward in the cricketing spectrum across the world, Roger Binny played a huge role. Kapil Dev and his side won the 1983 ODI World Cup against all odds and Roger Binny along with Madan Lal and Kriti Azad played a key role in the Indian middle order.

Roger Binny made his ODI debut versus Australia in Melbourne. The men in blue led by Sunil Gavaskar shocked the hosts by winning the match by 66 runs. In his debut game, Roger Binny was out for a duck and picked 2/23 with the ball. His wickets on that day were Shaun Graf and Geoff Lawson as the Indian team bowled out Australia for 142.

In a total of 72 matches, Roger Binny scored 629 runs with one half-century and also picked 77 wickets. His best of 4/29 was one of three times Roger Binny picked a four-wicket haul in a game.

3- 57 vs Australia -Ahmedabad -1984

Just one year after winning the World Cup, the Indian team became one of the top sides in the ODI format. During the 1984 ODI series versus Australia, Roger Binny scored his only ODI fifty as he hit 57 runs from 88 balls with 8 fours while opening the batting. India scored 206/6 from 46 overs. Australia won the game by 7 wickets with 13 balls to spare.

2- 4/41 vs New Zealand – Perth -1980

During his debut series, Roger Binny picked 4/41 versus New Zealand to help India by 5 runs. Batting first India were all out for 162 with Sandeep Patil scoring 39 runs. Roger Binny got the wicket of Bruce Edgar and then dismissed John Parker before getting the wicket of Richard Hadlee and Warren Lees.

1- 4/35 vs Pakistan – Melbourne -1985

During the 1985 World Championship of Cricket, India took on Pakistan at MCG. Roger Binny picked 4/35 with the wickets of Mohsin Khan, Javed Miandad, Anil Dalpat, and Rashid Khan. Pakistan were all out for 183 runs as India won by 6 wickets with Mohammad Azharuddin scoring 93 not out and Sunil Gavaskar hitting 54 while batting at number 5.
