Ranking Rohit Sharma's Top 3 Test knocks

Cricket fans across the world were stunned recently when Rohit Sharma revealed that he was retiring from Test cricket. The 38-year-old last played for India during the Boxing Day Test, where he scored a total of 12 runs in what was a very disappointing series with the bat. Rohit scored just 31 runs from five innings before he opted to sit out of the final Test match in Sydney.

Rohit Sharma started his Test career with two Test tons in his first series, which took place in 2013. The right-handed batter had to wait a long time to make his Test spot permanent, and this happened after Rohit was asked to open the batting. Rohit’s best score of 212 came during the home series against South Africa in 2019.

Here is Rohit Sharma’s top 3 test knocks

3- 120 vs Australia – Nagpur -2023

One of the best knocks by Rohit Sharma in Test cricket came at his birthplace in Nagpur during the first Test of the four-match series. Australia batted first and were all out for 177 on a pitch that favoured the bowlers. Rohit Sharma didn’t let the conditions affect him as he scored a terrific ton. Rohit battled despite wickets falling at the other end to score 120 off 212 balls with 15 fours and two sixes. India were all out for 400 with an overall of 223 runs. Australia were all out for 91 runs with R. Ashwin taking five wickets for 37 runs.

India had toured England in 2021, and heading into the fourth Test at the Oval, the series was tied at 1-1. Team India batted first and were all out for 191 thanks to Shardul Thakur’s 36-ball 57. In reply, England scored 290 runs to take a lead of 99 runs and steal the march. Rohit Sharma showed tremendous restraint as he saw off the new ball attack consisting of James Anderson, Chris Woakes, and Moeen Ali. The right-handed batter scored 127 off 256 balls with 14 fours and one six to help India win the game. Rohit reached his ton with a six off Moeen Ali as every member of the Indian cricket team applauded the innings.

Having lost the first Test match in Chennai against England, the hosts needed to rebound in the second game. India batted first on a pitch that was turning square from the first day.
