PSL 2025: Top 3 Batters to Watch Out for in the IU vs QG Clash

PSL 2025: Top 3 Batters to Watch Out for in the IU vs QG Clash

As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 rolls on, the spotlight is firmly fixed on the exciting showdown between Islamabad United (IU) and Quetta Gladiators (QG), two rivals with extreme rivalry and significant playoff implications. This match should be great, and while the matchup of the bowlers will probably receive the bulk of the recognition, the batters of these two teams have also been preparing to entertain. To recap some of the talent on each of these two rosters, three batters stand out as players to watch closely.

1. Hasan Nawaz – Quetta Gladiators

Hasan Nawaz

Hasan Nawaz is young and new to the PSL, but he has a very bright future with the Quetta Gladiators. He is still learning his craft at the highest level, but has shown enough already to be classed as a match-winner in pressure situations. In 11 PSL matches, Hasan has batted 9 times, scoring 178 runs at an average of 22.25 with a strike rate of 123.61. His highest score is 64*, which shows he can see an innings through or accelerate when needed.

Hasan is an intriguing player due to his attacking mindset, especially when opening or batting top order. A small total of nine sixes and nine fours could be a game-changer if he gets in early, when he is clean striking the ball.

2. Rilee Rossouw – Quetta Gladiators

Rilee Rossouw

The South African heavyweight Rilee Rossouw is reasonably well known at this point. He is a PSL veteran, and not only is he the backbone of QG, but Rossouw is also one of the most destructive left-hand batters in the league. He has scored 2,145 runs at an average of 31.54 and a strike rate of 143.09 in 92 matches! He has 2 tons and 10 fifties in his record, so he is a consistent match-winner.

Rossouw’s ability to change gears during an innings makes him a dangerous option, especially during middle and death overs. His 209 boundaries and 84 sixes indicate he is an aggressive batter, showing he has an aggressive intent. Against Islamabad spinners and pace attack, expect Rossouw’s role to be either anchoring the innings or exploding with purposeful aggression.

3. Mohammad Nawaz – Islamabad United

Mohammad Nawaz

While Mohammad Nawaz is widely acknowledged for his role as an all-rounder, he offers a total sense of balance to the Islamabad United side with his batting. He is a left-hand batter who occasionally slips under the radar, scoring crucial runs at vital moments in the match, or runs that can create momentum for the team. Out of the 67 innings he has played in 87 matches, he has scored 894 runs at an average of 18.24 and a perky strike rate of 114.91.

While he may not be the flashiest name on the list, Nawaz’s contribution could be significant. He can provide stability after early wickets, or can go after it down the order. He brings a lot of flexibility in terms of the batting order itself.

As Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators are about to battle, these three batters- Hasan Nawaz, Rilee Rossouw, and Mohammad Nawaz, can make a major impact. Whether they score quickly at the top, in the middle, or finish the game, it is these names that will likely be shining on the scoreboard.
