Predicting West Indies’ playing XI for their third ODI against Bangladesh

West Indies have won the ongoing ODI series against Bangladesh with a match to go. The third and last match of the series is set to take place on the 12th of December at 7 PM (IST) at Werner Park. Despite having a fairly inexperienced bowling attack, the home side has done well in the series so far. Different players stood up on different occasions and helped their side.

The injuries of Shamar Joseph and Matthew Forde haven’t dented West Indies’ bowling. Bangladesh haven’t had a good time in the Caribbean islands in the ongoing tour. They would like to change things in the last ODI to try and end the series on a high. The home side might start as the favorite to win the last ODI and ensure a clean sweep for the first time in a while.

Here’s the predicted West Indies’ playing XI for the third ODI against Bangladesh:

Top Order

Brandon King

West Indies’ top order has been firing well in the ongoing series. Brandon King played a good knock in the second ODI. He was assisted well by Evin Lewis from the other end. Together, the duo form a good opening pair. To follow them is an emerging talent like Keacy Carty who has been slowly but surely making a name for himself as a player to watch out for.

Middle Order

Sherfane Rutherford

The middle order is the West Indies’ biggest strength. Sherfane Rutherford has been one of the best ODI batters of the year. His knock in the first ODI helped West Indies to win the match. To follow him at number 5 would be skipper Shai Hope who has been doing well as a batter, as a skipper, and as a WK. Roston Chase is likely to bat after them. He can be handy with his off-spin bowling.

Lower Middle Order

Romario Shepherd

The home side will have Romario Shepherd and Gudakesh Motie in the lower middle order. The former has been taking wickets for his side in the ongoing series. The explosive batter wasn’t needed to bat in the first two ODIs.

Gudakesh Motie will be the main spinner of the West Indian attack. He can bowl miserly spells. If the batters try to go after him, the left-arm orthodox spinner can take wickets. If required, he can add some runs lower down the order.

Bowlers

Jayden Seales

West Indies’ pace attack will feature the likes of Jayden Seales, Marquino Mindley, and Justin Greaves. The young pace attack has been one of the key reasons behind WI’s success in the series. Seales bowled an amazing spell in the second ODI. Mindley and Greaves, despite their inexperience, have done their job as the supportive pacers. Together, they can restrict good batting lineups to a low total.
