Predicting India’s playing XI for their fourth T20I against South Africa

Predicting India’s playing XI for the 4th T20I against South Africa: India will be playing the fourth T20I of the series against South Africa at the Wanderers Stadium. Having a lead of 2-1 in the series, India will end the year without a series loss in the format. However, they would want to do it on a high by winning the match and claiming the series 3-1. For that to happen, India cannot afford to make a lot of changes to their team in the third match.

They are unlikely to have any changes. The surface in Wanderers is usually good for batting. As it will be a day game, batting first will be an advantage. Chasing won’t be easier due to the absence of the dew factor. India would like to play a sole pacer with designated All-rounders as the backup pacers. A spin trio attack is likely to continue even for the fourth T20I.

Here’s the probable India’s playing XI against South Africa for the fourth T20I

Top Order:

Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are likely to continue to open the innings. The team management trusts the duo. They’re the only two openers named by India for the series. While Abhishek smashed a fifty in the third T20I, Samson has bagged back-to-back ducks in the last two innings.

While the openers would be hoping to end the series on a high, India’s skipper Suryakumar Yadav would be hoping to score big in a series which has witnessed him being out of form in a rare instance. As a captain, Yadav has done a fine job. The Indian team would hope to see him return to form.

Middle Order:

Tilak Varma

The Indian middle order has some of the most talented batters. Tilak Varma has been one of the best batters of the series. The Southpaw smashed a hundred in the previous game and helped India to claim a lead of 2-1. Even in the first T20I, he did well. To follow him is likely to be Ramandeep Singh.

The emerging star could not shine on his debut. But he would be hoping to make a mark in the last match of the series. Rinku Singh might bat at 6, considering the lack of opportunities he has gotten in the series so far. Hardik might come after him, as he has batted enough so far.

Lower Middle Order:

Axar Patel

Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel will be the two All-rounders in the Indian lineup. Given the nature of T20Is, India would consider themselves lucky to possess three All-rounders. Two experienced guys like Hardik and Axar can win matches on their own. Both of them have proved themselves as big match players.

Hardik has done a decent job as an All-rounder in the series so far. He is likely to operate at the PP and the death overs as a bowler. As a batter, he might just be a finisher. Axar might be promoted up the order to anchor the innings. With the ball, he might operate in the PP and the middle overs.

Bowlers:

Arshdeep Singh

The Indian bowling attack is likely to have a sole pacer in Arshdeep Singh. He helped India to win the crunching moments in the third T20I. The left-arm pacer is likely to operate with the new ball and at the death. India is likely to continue with two spinners alongside Arshdeep. Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi are two different types of spinners.

While Varun has the mystery factor and can read the mind of the batter, Bishnoi is someone who operates at a high pace and keeps the batters guessing with his line and lengths. Chakravarthy is a wicket-taker in different phases. Ravi doesn’t often go for runs. The duo could prove to be lethal against the South African batting lineup.

India’s playing XI against South Africa –

Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Suryakumar Yadav (C ), Tilak Varma, Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, and Ravi Bishnoi
