Predicted Playing XI of West Indies in 2nd Test against Bangladesh

Predicted Playing XI of West Indies in 2nd Test against Bangladesh

West Indies will aim to seal the two-match Test series when they face Bangladesh in the second Test at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, starting November 5. The visitors took a 1-0 lead after winning the opening match in Mirpur by eight wickets, and will be confident after their spinners dominated the contest.

West Indies’ victory was built on a strong bowling performance. Jomel Warrican claimed nine wickets in the match, while captain Roston Chase took five in Bangladesh’s second innings. Brandon King then led the chase with an unbeaten 81, helping the visitors reach their target of 170 with eight wickets in hand.

The visitors are expected to retain much of their winning combination, with the possibility of changes depending on the pitch and the team management’s plans.

Here’s West Indies’ Predicted XI for second Test:

Top order: John Campbell, Brandon King, Tagenarine Chanderpaul

John Campbell is expected to open alongside Brandon King. Campbell will look to provide a steady start and build on his contribution from the first Test, where he scored 49 in the second innings. His ability to negotiate Bangladesh’s new-ball attack will be important in giving the middle order a platform.

King, meanwhile, will be one of the key batters to watch. The opener scored an unbeaten 81 in the fourth innings of the first Test, demonstrating his ability to handle pressure and guide a chase. His confidence will be high, and West Indies will hope he can carry that form into the second match.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul is likely to bat at No. 3. The left-hander offers patience and stability, which could be valuable if Bangladesh strike early. His role will be to occupy the crease and allow the middle order to build around him.

Middle order: Kavem Hodge, Amir Jangoo, Justin Greaves, Roston Chase and Joshua Bishop

Kavem Hodge is expected to bat at No. 4. He contributed an unbeaten 31 during the first Test chase and has shown that he can handle pressure in the middle order. Hodge’s ability to rotate the strike and find scoring opportunities will be important against Bangladesh’s spinners.

Amir Jangoo could occupy the No. 5 position and take the wicketkeeping duties. His inclusion would provide a left-handed option in the middle order and give West Indies flexibility against Bangladesh’s bowling attack.

Justin Greaves is likely to follow at No. 6. The all-rounder offers batting depth and can contribute with the ball if required. His presence allows West Indies to maintain a balanced lineup without relying exclusively on their specialist bowlers.

Captain Roston Chase is expected to bat at No. 7. His contribution with the ball was decisive in the first Test, as he claimed five wickets in Bangladesh’s second innings. Chase will be keen to continue providing control and breakthroughs with his off-spin.

Joshua Bishop could feature at No. 8 as another spin-bowling option. The left-arm spinner gives West Indies additional variety and could be particularly useful on a surface expected to assist spin as the match progresses.

The combination of Chase, Bishop and Warrican would allow West Indies to apply sustained pressure through the middle overs, while also giving captain Chase flexibility with his bowling changes.

Bowlers: Jomel Warrican, Jayden Seales, Shamar Joseph

Jomel Warrican is expected to retain his place after an outstanding performance in the opening Test. He took five wickets in the first innings and four in the second, earning Player of the Match honours. His accuracy and ability to extract turn make him a major threat in Sylhet.

Shamar Joseph is likely to provide pace and aggression. His ability to generate bounce and challenge batters with short deliveries could complement the spinners.

Jayden Seales is predicted to complete the attack. The right-arm seamer can provide control with the new ball and support Joseph in maintaining pressure. His role will be to create opportunities before the spinners take over.
