OTD | England's white-ball captain, Jos Buttler was born in 1990

England’s white-ball skipper Jos Buttler was born on 8th September 1990 in Taunton, Somerset. Buttler made his T20I debut in 2011, followed by his ODI debut in 2012, and he debuted in Test cricket in 2014. Since then, he has been a crucial English team member and is now their white-ball captain. He has many accolades under his name, making him one of the most successful players in England.

Moreover, Buttler led England to their T20 World Cup 2022 title victory. His form has never been a concern for England, which is a fantastic thing. He successfully returned to Test cricket in 2018 after being dropped from the team. He then scored two half-centuries and the most runs in the series and also won the Man of the Match award at Headingley.

Buttler’s domination in white-ball Cricket

However, he might not be an impactful player of red-ball cricket, but he’s currently the best in white-ball cricket. In 154 ODI innings, he has scored 5022 runs at an average of 39.54. He has scored 26 half-centuries and 11 centuries with a highest score of 162 runs. In T20Is, he has appeared in 114 innings so far and scored 3264 runs at an average of 35.86 with a strike rate of 146.30. In T20Is, he has scored 24 half-centuries and one century.

During the T20I match on Australia’s tour, Buttler achieved the fastest half-century by an English cricketer, reaching the milestone in just 22 balls. Moreover, if we look at his T20 career, he has been phenomenal. He has scored runs consistently and, hence, deserves all the praise given to him. He has played 424 T20 games and scored 11842 runs at an average of 35.03, with a strike rate of 145.03. He scored 82 half-centuries and eight centuries, which is huge.
