
Over the last few years, England cricket has taken off and reached new heights. One of the main reasons has been the emergence of new attacking batters who can take attack to the opposition. Liam Livingstone is one such player who has been a huge player in the white ball formats.
Born on the 4th of August 1993, Liam Livingstone rose through the ranks as a destructive batter. Livingstone made it through the ranks thanks to his performances in age-group cricket and soon became a key member of the Lancashire side.
After toiling long and hard in the domestic circuit, he finally was picked for the England team. His most memorable performance came when he scored a century in the T20I format for England against Pakistan off a mere 42 balls.
Liam Livingstone: England’s middle order rock
The first ever time the world got to witness the talents of Liam Livingstone was during his debut match against India in Pune. The home team had batted first and scored 336/6 with KL Rahul scoring a ton as Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant scored fifties.
Jason Roy responded with 55 while Jonny Bairstow scored 124 and Ben Stokes scored 99. Liam Livingstone gave the finishing touches to the innings with his 27 not out from 21 balls as the visitors won the game with 39 balls to spare.
It was in 2017 that Liam Livingstone first played for England in the T20I format against South Africa. In that game, Livingstone could score just 16 runs from 18 balls as the home team lost the match by 3 runs. This was followed by a long wilderness before he forced his way back into the team on the back of his amazing performances.
So far Liam Livingstone has played 25 ODI matches and scored 558 runs with a best of 95 not out. He has also claimed 17 wickets with the ball with a best of 3/16. In the T20I format, he has played 48 matches scoring 691 runs with one century and one fifty with a strike rate of 148 and picked 24 wickets.
