Former Pakistan wicketkeeper batter had an illustrious career although it ended a bit early. He played 219 ODI games for his national side. Batting as wicketkeeper and a lower-middle order player, the right-hander amassed 3266 runs at an average of 23 including 12 fifties. Meanwhile, due to his wicketkeeping going down, he lost his place in the team in 2004.
As Kamran Akmal came up the ranks, his international career was over and a year later in 2005, he announced his retirement from the game and started coaching Hyderabad Heroes in defunct and unathorised, Indian Cricket League. His son, Azam has played for Pakistan and is looking to get his place back in the team. Meanwhile, in this listicle, we will discuss Moin’s three best innings in ODI cricket.
Moin Khan’s three best ODI innings
1. 72 against New Zealand in 2004
In the first ODI against New Zealand in January 2004, the home team won the toss and elected to bowl first. Pakistan had a poor start as they lost six wickets for 120 runs with the top-order failing badly.
However, Khan played an innings of unbeaten 72 off 68 balls to take the team to a respectable total of 229/7 with Azhar Mahmood playing a cameo too. Despite this, the team ended up losing the game by four wickets with Scott Styris scoring an unbeaten hundred.
