IPL 2026: 3 Players Who Might Struggle – Form Concerns & Key Challenges

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is set to kick off on March 28 with an exciting clash between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). As always, expectations are sky-high, with fans eager to see their favourite stars deliver match-winning performances. However, cricket is a game of form and confidence, and not every big name enters the tournament at their peak. Based on recent performances, injuries, and pressure situations, a few players might find IPL 2026 particularly challenging.

Here are three players who might struggle in IPL 2026:

Rashid Khan (Gujarat Titans)

Rashid Khan

Afghanistan’s premier leg-spinner Rashid Khan has been one of the most consistent performers in T20 cricket, boasting over 700 wickets in the format. His ability to control the game in the middle overs has made him a vital asset for Gujarat Titans (GT).

However, recent performances suggest a dip in his wicket-taking effectiveness. During the T20 World Cup, Rashid managed only six wickets in four matches, decent, but below his elite standards. His IPL 2025 campaign was also underwhelming, where he picked up just nine wickets in 15 matches. While he remained economical, his inability to break partnerships could be a concern. If this trend continues, Rashid may struggle to dominate like he once did.

Cameron Green (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is another high-profile player under scrutiny. After impressive performances with Mumbai Indians (MI) earlier in his IPL career, Green’s recent outings have been inconsistent. His performances in international cricket, including the T20 World Cup and the The Ashes, have not been particularly convincing.

Despite this, KKR invested heavily, acquiring him for INR 25.20 crore. Such a hefty price tag brings immense pressure. Balancing expectations as both a batter and bowler, while trying to regain form, could make IPL 2026 a challenging campaign for Green.

Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians)

Suryakumar Yadav, widely regarded as one of the most dynamic T20 batters, had a phenomenal IPL 2025, scoring 717 runs in 16 matches at an average of over 65. However, his form dipped after the tournament, particularly in international cricket.

During the T20 World Cup, he managed only one half-century, and injuries have further disrupted his rhythm. Representing MI again, Suryakumar will be expected to replicate his previous IPL heroics. But given his recent inconsistency and fitness concerns, maintaining that high standard could prove difficult.
