IPL 2025: 3 Reasons why Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost to MI

Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 41 of the Indian Premier League. MI defeated SRH by 7 wickets to jump into the top four spot. Rohit Sharma’s knock of 70 runs was the turning point of the game as MI chased the target of 144 runs. Earlier, Trent Boult picked four wickets as SRH batters struggled and could only score 144 runs. 

As the race for the playoffs has started and teams are fighting to qualify for the playoffs, MI coming back in form makes them a title contender once again. This win against SRH helped the Mumbai Indians to jump from sixth to third position. They now have ten points in the nine matches they have played so far. 

Here are the three reasons why SRH lost to MI:

Top Order failure:

The toss was won by MI as they decided to bowl first, which gave SRH an opportunity to have a fiery start. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head eventually failed to achieve the team’s dream start.  The two threatening batters were removed by Trent Boult in his first two overs.  After that, SRH lost four wickets in the power play with a score of 24 runs.

Fail to take wicket of Rohit Sharma:

Even though SRH managed to score 144 runs, MI were dealt with an early blow during the chase as Ryan Rickelton was dismissed by Jaydev Unadkat. Will Jacks also lost his wicket when the score was 77 runs. Rohit Sharma stood strong and scored 70 runs, which helped the team in getting a win. He and Suryakumar Yadav did most of the work for MI as they put on a partnership of 50 runs, which helped them chase the target easily.

Not able to make use of the pitch:

In the ongoing IPL season, Sunrisers Hyderabad are one of the teams that are struggling to adjust to the pitch conditions. The wicket was flat and runs would come easily, but the SRH plan failed once again. They have struggled to adjust, which has been a major factor in their poor form.
